Franchising - what is it?

Hannaford with its Head Office in Adelaide, South Australia is part of the world-wide Chemtura Corporation, a specialty chemicals company. The Hannaford business is the only franchised mobile seed grading, cleaning, and treating business in Australia. Franchising is the granting of the right to sell a product or service within a specified territory for a nominated period of time. A Hannaford franchise is a mobile system of seed grading, grain cleaning, and seed treating, and the exclusive supply and sale of leading seed treatment brands in a defined territory.

How does it work?

Hannaford is one of the most recognised names in Australian broadacre agriculture with over 85 years experience in grain processing. Owning a Hannaford franchise allows the use of the Hannaford brand, the business' most valuable asset. Once fully trained, Franchisees will start work in their own exclusive territory with a purpose built mobile Hannaford grader, equipped with "Flow-through" technology. They will make bookings with their customers to either grade, treat, or clean their on-farm stored grain. All work is carried out on-farm and when finished an invoice is created as a record of the completed work. Area maps and customer lists are provided for each territory to assist with arranging work schedules.

Support

Hannaford provides ongoing support in all aspects of the business from training to marketing. Business Development Representatives are based in each state of operation and are there to assist the business. In addition, an array of Head Office based staff are available to advise in speciality aspects of the business. Hannaford provides ongoing:

Training

When starting in a Hannaford business, franchisees will have the reassurance of knowing that the methods used are sound, there’s no need to take risks, it’s a time proven system – "ready to go". Hannaford’s comprehensive training program is designed to prepare franchisees to present maximum quality service and good profits through a "self-help" approach.

The areas covered include: administration, sales, technical (cereal and leaf diseases), products, marketing, machinery operation and maintenance. Upon completion of this training, franchisees are well equipped to service and satisfy customers needs.

How do I apply?

The first thing you need to do is contact our Franchise Recruitment and Development Manager, Murray Forster on 0429 899 433. He will speak with you and arrange to meet so an informal discussion can take place regarding the business and the particular area you are interested in.

After the initial discussion we will make contact with you again and if you are still keen to continue talks we would meet and leave one of our application forms along with a blank agreement and disclosure document. Speaking to as many people as possible before buying a business is sound advice — accountants, solicitors and banks are a good source of information. Upon receiving your formal application form and if mutually suitable we would then ask you to attend a final interview. Upon a successful final interview you’ll sign the agreements and pay any fees due. You will then be part of the Hannaford seed management professionals network.
